1. Boyce Avenue
An American band based in Florida, popular for their acoustic roots and the cajon (a type of drum that makes a really cool sound) and probably the most favorite band of anyone who appreciates covers of songs. The band consists the three Manzano brothers : Alejendro (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Fabrian (guitar, vocals) and their older brother Daniel (base, percussion. vocals), Not only are they the best cover artists, but one of the best bands itself.
If any of you have heard their covers, I need not say that each and every one of them is amazing. Alejandro's magical voice and the music just blends in so well. Here are some of the songs you MUST listen.
- Fix you by Coldplay (absolute favorite) - I suggest you put the Rainy Mood on :)
- For the First Time by the Script
- She will be loved by Maroon 5
- Ho Hey by the Lumineers
- A thousand miles by Venessa Calton (feat. Alex Goot)
- Superman by Five for Fighting
- Heaven by Bryan Adams (feat. Megan Nicole)
Also take a listen to some of their original songs: Find me, When the lights die, Every breath, On my way and Hear Me Now.
I would describe him as the 'perfect guy'. He's got that beautiful husky voice, super good looks and damn he knows how to work his fingers (on the piano I mean. Jeez! Perv. :P ) Not to mention he's funny.
After receiving a Bachelors degree in Theater Arts with an emphasis in Acting, in 2006 he became the face of Disney Chanel's "Disney 365" and hosted the show for more than 3 years. He also appeared in several ad campaigns, national commercials and indie films.
Chester has been playing the piano since the age of 6. He has currently sold over 50,000 songs on iTunes and has his songs played all over the world. His most successful hit was one of his originals 'God damn you're beautiful' with over 5 million views on the web.
These are a list of covers you must listen:
- The One That Got Away by Katy Perry (feat. Tiffany Alvord)
- I Knew You Were Trouble By Taylor Swift
- Daylight by Maroon 5 (feat. Lindsey Stirling & Tyler Ward)
- Don't You Worry Child by the Swedish House Mafia
- Stay by Rihanna
- Rumor Has It by Adele
- Falling slowly from the movie 'Once' (feat.Savannah Outen)
Also his originals: Everything, I'm falling for you, Baby come home, That girl & Loved and Lost.
3. Sam Tsui & Kurt Hugo Schneider
Both Schneider and Tsui grew up in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania just a street away from each other. They attended the same high school and ended up at Yale University together as well.
While Kurt is known as one of the YouTube artists who can play pretty much any instrument (ranging from the piano, guitar, bass guitar to harp, crockenspiel, ocarina, keytar and the synthesizer), Sam is known to hit a wide range of notes (They say Sam should have been Troy AND Gabriella from High School Musical, so you can use your imagination). The duo first gained media attention with a video of Michael Jackson Medley which has over 30 million views on YouTube. This medley is one of several in which Schneider using video editing, creates the illusion of a one-man a capella choir with Tsui covering lead and backing vocals.
Some of the great covers by them:
- Hold It Against Me by Britney Spears
- Mirrors by Justin Timberlake
- Clarity by Zedd
- Don't You Worry Child by the Swedish House Mafia
- Safe and Sound by Taylor Swift
They both also branched out to other projects in collaboration with other artists such as Max Schneider, Tyler Ward, Chrissy Costanza, Alex Goot, Megan Nicole and Kim Vierra.
Kurt & Kim Vierra's cover of She wolf by Sia is also one my all time favorites.
Oh and did I mention that Kurt Schneider has the most beautiful green eyes? Yes, he does. You may see it in his cover of "Hey There Delilah" by the Plain White T's,

This duo has the best BEST best harmonizing! I believe they deserve to be appreciated more because they have their own thing going on with these songs and when you listen to any one of them, you go like 'Thats DEFINITELY MH&JR'
Here's a bit about how MH&JR started: During Michael's senior year of undergrad, Justin attended Texas Tech University for a year as a Music Performance Major. They first met on the Texas Tech Drumline, Michael the Captain and Justin a member of the Tenor Line. The two were also roommates then for the following two years where the magic happened.
Some of the MUST listens :
- I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables
- Adele Medley (Rolling in the Deep/Turning Tables/Set Fire to the Rain)
- Kiss Me Slowly by Parachute
- God Gave Me You by Blake Shelton
- What The Hell by Avril Lavigne
- Airplanes/ Brick by Boring Brick by Paramore
5. Lindsey Stirling
Lindsey's style of music is different from the others. She gives the meaning to the word 'unique' and speaks her mind through her violin. I would say she's a legend; I mean there aren't many who can play the violin and shuffle at the same time which is why it's not a surprise that she appeared as a finalist on "America's Got Talent". While composing her own violin music, she has also covered some songs with other artists like Tyler Ward, Chester See and Peter Hollens.
Here are some of her amazing covers.
- Thrift Shop by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (feat. Tyler Ward)
- River Flows in You by Yiruma
- Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO
- We found Love by Rihanna & Calvin Harris
- Lord of the Rings Medley
- Assassin's Creed 3 OST
- Radioactive by Imagine Dragons
- Phantom of the Opera Medley - MUST listen
